Where is The Old Rectory Nursery School (TORNS) located?

TORNS is located at the end of Church Road in Cranford, Hounslow we are located around the corner from Cranford Community School.

What are your opening hours and what sessions do you offer?

We are open 50 weeks of the year, and closed for two weeks; one in Easter and one in Christmas as well as bank holidays. We are open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6:30pm. A full day is classified as 8:00am to 6:00pm if you require an early start or late pickup you will be charged extra for this. Our AM sessions run from 8:00am to 1:00pm and our PM sessions are from 1:30pm to 6:30pm.

Do I get charged for the days the Nursery is closed?

Parents are not charged for the two weeks the nursery is closed for. This has already been taken into consideration in the fee structure. The fees are worked out over 50 weeks of the year and divided into twelve equal monthly payments.

When can I book a show around?

You can ring up the nursery during opening hours to book a show around. Typically we hold our show around appointments at 10:30am or 2:30pm; however if you require a specific time please let us know and we will see if we can accommodate this.

Are all staff qualified?

Yes, all our staff are either NVQ Level 3 qualified or working towards a Level 3 qualification in child care. Staff also receive training in areas such as First Aid, Child Protection, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.

How will my child be settled into the Nursery?

We offer 6 free hours settling time to new children. Usually we recommend that children under two spread this out as 3 x 2hour slots and for over two's we recommend 2 x 3 hour slots. More details will be provided to you upon registration.

What do I need to bring into the Nursery for my child?

  • Nappies or pull ups (big packs especially appreciated!).
  • Any special creams/lotions.
  • Spare clothes in case of nappy leaks/food spills/spit ups.
  • A special teddy/comfort item to remind your child of home.
  • Wellington boots.

How do I find out about my child's daily routine at the Nursery?

Each child when they start the Nursery is assigned a key person. This member of staff is your point of contact and will be able to give you information on your child's daily routine. They will be able to provide you information on sleep patterns, eating habits, behaviour/emotional incidents etc. We also provide contact books for children under the age of two which detail this information and additional notes for parents to read.
